Just wrapped up the historic walking tour of Bacarach led by local resident Thomas. We learned the history of the village, about his family, the buldings, culture, war, wine making, and a whole lot more. We hiked into the vineyards that offered an amazing view of the Rhine valley, defense towers, and the other buildings in the village. Thomas was a wealth of knowledge about this beautiful town on the Rhine River we are spending two days exploring.
Back at the hotel after an astounding day at the Burg Rheinfels castle. We saw a lot of neat features and were able to do a lot of exploring on our own. We had some free time in Sankt Gohr to window shop in a glockenspiel store and a stein shop. How fun! After the castle we relaxed with a few beers on a river cruise up the Rhine back to Bacharch. Back at the home base Brian and I climbed back up the tower for the view at night and at 6pm church bells starting ringing. Unbelievable.
Another trip to Kleines Brauhaus for dinner, cribbage, beer and wine, a pretzel, tomato toast, and a big order of fries. I had a traditional German Radler, very good. Back to the hotel at 9:30pm to relax until bed.
