DAY 1: 9/2/18 HAARLEM

Woke up at 2am after going to sleep at 7pm. Played Switch and watched All-In (wrestling). Fell back asleep at 5am until 9am. Walked the Streets of Haarlem until 11:30am. Back to hotel to rest now headed to lunch at location TBD. Saw a really cool Simpsons bag at one of the shops (should have bought it). Lunch was at Grand Cafe Brinkmann. Had a cappuccino with a cookie and chicken skewer with peanut sauce, pickled relish, and prawn chips. All our meals were spectacular. Rest for 45 minutes. Met for orientation at 3pm to go over rules, expectations, etc. Met my "buddy" Gery - he is from Canada. Pretty boring but necessary and useful and there was wine and snacks (this will be a common theme). Break until group dinner, walking tour, and genever alcohol tasting.

Dinner was at an Indonesian restaurant, it was AMAZING. History tour through Haarlam with a local guide, then the genever tasting which was interesting. After dinner Brian and I went to Cafe Kantoor for some of THE BEST beers of my life. I am not exaggerating, Miller, you need to step your game up. I had a La Trappe Triple, La Chouffe Blonde, and Cornet Belgian Blonde.

This was a great local place, talked to a local for an hour and then hung out chatting with Brian about what we were looking forward to on the trip. We had 6 beers for 26 Euros. Bedtime was around midnight.

Should have bought this Simpsons bag for 15 Euros
